Director Gray was appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to serve on a Water Quality Community Task Force (Task Force), which is part of the County’s Clean Water, Clean Beaches Initiative to address pollution in our local waterways that include rivers, lakes, bays, beaches, and coastal waters. Director Gray reviews programs and policies intended to clean up our polluted waterways and watersheds and will address how to fund them. Gray was also appointed by the Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass and Re-appointed by Speaker John Perez to the Bay Delta Stewardship Council, a statewide commission founded by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ms. Gray is the first female and person of color to serve on the council. She is also the only person representing the entire Southern California region. In 2011, Director Gray met with stakeholders from up and down the State and suggested the Delta Council hold public forums to gain broader knowledge in order to develop a comprehensive Delta Conservation Plan. In 2012, Gray was honored by the Southern California Water Committee with the “Honorable Harriett Wieder” Award for Outstanding Leadership in Water and by Friends of Ballona Wetlands for her leadership on current and future water supply issues.
Gray supports a ban on fracking an issue impacting the east side of the district and will support legislation to Stop Fracking in California.
